Emotions like grief, anxiety, anger, fear, and sadness are natural responses to many life-stressors.
Problem is, if you don’t find a way to healthfully express these emotions, they can stay bottled up inside, often coming out in ways that aren’t so helpful.
That’s where Creative Life Coaching comes in.
About Life Coaching
What it IS….
Creative Life Coaching combines the art making process with the skills of life coaching.
Life coaches start with the belief that YOU are the expert, and you just might need a little outside help to train, equip, and motivate you to do what you do best: live your one precious life.
What it ISN’T…
Coaching is not the same as therapy or counseling. I can’t prescribe meds, treat serious mental illness, or walk you through all your past trauma. What I can do is help you process through a rough season or equip you with new tools and perspectives to help you achieve a short-term life goal. I’ve also seen clients use coaching and counseling together to achieve some great results!
I gained more from our sessions than through traditional therapy. My concerns were heard and I was given unique assignments that felt personalized.
Danica really put in the effort to make the environment welcoming and easy going. You don’t need to be an artist to benefit…J. (past coaching client)
Do I need to be an artist?
Nope, not at all. Many clients I work with start at “stick-figure” level. Unlike fine art (which all about the final product), therapeutic art is all about the PROCESS.
And if you are artistically inclined, don’t worry, this is for you, too!
Do I need any special supplies?
Nothing special is required! Art supplies aren’t the focus of therapeutic art times, so the list is kept simple on purpose. I will always do my best to work with what you already have. The most common items I have clients use are: blank paper/art journal pages, pen, pencil, eraser, basic watercolor set, crayons, and markers or colored pencils.
I’m intrigued. How do I learn more about coaching sessions?
Great! You can schedule a free 30 minute consultation call with me. We’ll chat about your needs, questions, and goals and figure out what’s best for you.
What our coaching sessions might look like
I’ll send you a head’s up via email or text to let you know what kind of art materials we’ll be using that day. When you log on to Zoom, we’ll:
- Check-in: how are you doing this week?
- Introduce the topic or goal we’re working on
- Do an art or craft project related to the topic
- Discuss real-life applications to your week ahead
- Set a personal goal to complete before our next session
